I played a lot of rugby league when I was younger. I had trials at Oldham and Wigan and was signed on schoolboy forms. Alas, I suffered a very bad ankle injury at the age of 17 just as I was pushing for a place in the first team.
I never played professionally, due to the injury (Broken ankle and dislocated foot-similar to the injury Alan Smith had at Man United a couple of years ago. 9months in plaster!) but I did play semi-pro for Accrington
Oh, and sold a 3 piece suite to Paul Scholes, and test drove Will Haining (Lower league footballer) and his girlfriend in a golf GTI. His fgirlfriend was a certain Michelle Marsh, they're now married!!!

The trouble with rugby league is that it is only played in places where people got sent as a punishment, ie. Australia, The North of England...

Paver to the stars indeed.... I am impressed, I was doing a huge patio & a prison service training college, & one of the lads went into the staff restaurant for his lunch. he was sat with his head in his newspaper when this bloke sat down next to him with a fag on. without looking up, the lad asked him to put it out, the bloke did, & it was Robbie Coltrane!!! you know, Hagrid off Harry Potter!!!!!!

the trouble is that rugby league is only played in three parishes in the north of england, & wembley once a year to confuse southerners, the rest of us just don't understand it. I go to watch leicester tigers occasionally, I expect rugby players to talk like lords & fight like gypsies, not the other way round.

i realy have to say that rugby league is the true game of rugby, not union they kick it around to much and stand all over each other and just decide to lie there for 5 mins with ball in hand until someone decides to play the ball, yeah its confusing for me tolol;)
