20xe fuel pump relay

just a quick question on a 20xe lump. I have no power going to fuel pump, I have ordered a new relay but just wanted to ask a few questions. Will the relay work without the ecu plugged in. I have not tried to run the engine yet just wanted to get the fuel pump to work. If I but 12v down cable to the pump it works but not when i connect it to the red/blue from the xe loom? any ideas ???? Im hoping its the relay.

Does the ecu light come on with the ign?

havnt wired it in yet. Just wanted to hear the pump, would this make a difference

Could also be the crank sensor if the pump doesnt run when you turn the engine over.

yeah as ad started on above , the 20XE doesnt prime the pump like the nova gte/gsi's do , so it wont run unless your are cranking the engine

Ok guys thanks for you help. All sorted now. It was the relay as well as having to have the Ecu plugged it as well as cranking the engine
