Right ive had this problem for a while now so i decided to get it fixed i assumed it was the fuel sender unit so i got a garage to replace that they use a new one it still didnt work so i replaced the gauge with one i knew that was working and all they both seem to do is sit at the empty mark and the orange light stays on even if i fill the tank right up. so what could be the problem! Could it be the dash unit with all the speedo and rev counter shall i replace that. the cars a 1992 k reg sri any ideas please

As far as I am aware it is a "nova thing" I think you need to change some sort of p.c.b somewhere, don't know where though.

You could always fit an aftermarket fuel gauge as well as the 'broken' Nova one.

its ususally coroded wires.

at the fuel sender end.

cut the spade terminal off, strip some wire, and crimp or solder on a new connector.

sprinkle vinegar (yes the kind you have on ur fish n chips) on the male spade connector that is on the sender itself, and scratch it with some sand paper or something to get any shit off that.

then touch wood, and it may work.
