I've just put a new engine in my 1200 Nova. Both the fuel and ignition systems work and the engine will turn but not fire I have checked the timing and all appers to be ok but it just don't bloody fire

plugs? dizzy? fuel pump relay? just sum ideas hope u sort it, where in reigate do u live? il live there 2 have u seen that red nova round there? if u cant sort it have u heard of a place called R&S auto engineers?

have you crank it over alot?just outa intrested coz sometime when its been outa a car n drain for a bit it takes ages for it to restart.
make sure you put the leads on the right way,no these seem stupid ideas but ive put the wrong leads on the wrong plug s many times.
tried putting feul down the carb?`

I had the same prob on another car, like hayz said had just been sat around a while and neede to be towed for about 20 minutes to get things turning again? worth a try!

yeh just turn n turn,but i wouldnt recommend towing it,as it doesnt do the engine and tran any good,here trust me,i live on a hill and i remember bump starting my 1st car wen i was 13,it was a clap out old mk1 escort mexico.and i used to run down the hill.jump in and have the engine going over for 300metres before it start,(+the old bill busted me,1st convection)
however it didnt do it any good at all.did abit of damage to the box,
so its still siting in a lock up waiting for me to rebuilt axle and box.
woop anther secret the lass dont know.
but believe me its better to make the starter do the work.so do wot i do,
thndering great big v8,and have that running and jump from it.

I took the dizzy off and that was ok so i took the plugs out cleaned them up and IT STARTED !!!!

it pushed out some really intresting smoke and everything in my garage is now black but at least the car works

this is something i was taught very young,
does the engine get compression?
then it will more than likly start.
as long as he engine has these 3 points it will start.
