Change the thermostat on a 1.4sr 'j'. The chap at the vauxhall garage said that its behind the timing belt..

drain coolant
whip off rad top hose (the metal part going into block contains the stat.)
take off cambelt cover
u may or maynot be able to get the stat out now (2 13mm bolts) if not its cambelt off and the top pulley then back cover off, then u should have accesss to it
fit new seal with the stat
thats about it tbh.
its only hassle if the plastic cover is in the way tbh, but i cant remember if it is or isnt as ive only changed it with the head off)
