View Full Version : changing pads and discs
how easy is it to change the pads and discs on Cavalier 16v GSi calipers?
could somebody maybe give me a brief step by step guide to doing it?
thanks in advance
Liam
ok plunky, you are worrying me. in one thread you are ready to tackle a throttle bodied redtop, but you are asking how to change a set of discs & pads.
the job is simple & would take less than 10mins with the wheels off, it really is simple.
1. put the kettle on
2. unbolt the caliper
4 undo the screw & take the disc off
5 put new disc on & put screw back in.
6 fit pads & caliper on
7 bleed brakes. make a pot of tea
8 repeat for the other side.
9 enjoy a cup of tea
an engine swap from a small block to a big block takes quite a bit of welding & engineering skill, yes one can be thrown in with a bit of chassis leg hammering, but the shell will pull apart really quickly if driven hard.
He's asking how to change the pads and discs on the calipers that I assume are already on the car! Not how to fit new calipers!
Edit: I think you've just edited your second post? lol
yup iainel, I editted it but my lovely vista decided to do something weird....
Haynes has a step by step
it's a peice of cake...
In terms of the pads it's 2 bolts and some retaining clips :)
And the disks are just held in place by a little screw
cheers
i just like to ask as i havnt done it before, i knew pretty much how to do it, but thought you guys might have some good tips on doing it.
and with the engine, i wont be doing the work, a friend will
