View Full Version : URGENT Advice
Just installed a 2 channel amp to power my 6*9s. I belive I've wired it all up 100% but the damn thing won't work. I have a suspiscion it might be the ground.
Where is a good earthing point in the boot of a hatchback? I popped on of them covers off where you get to the rear lights and used one of the bolts there. Are they earthed?
Also, with the standard spade connectors. Which is + or - out of the big and small spade?

Earth it to the earth for your rear lights in the boot.

At the very back of ya car in the boot. against the back panel.as you look in ya boot it is below ya and at the back.
Where the nuts/bolts go through for ya bumper.
**** sake. I can't get it to work.
It's all wired perfectly. All fuses fine. But still nothing. Unfortunately there is no tell tale light on the amp for weather it is working or not.
Any common problems for amps not working?
It is a few years old and has been in storage for a while. Could this be it?

Have you fitted the power cable correctly that goes from ya amp to ya battery?
Positive. How can I check all the cables in the boot to make sure they work?

With a voltmeter. You should have 12VDC between GND and + on AMP TERMINALS and 12VDC between GND and 'Rem' on AMP TERMINALS when your stereo is on. The labelling maybe slightly different on your Amp.
I think the amp may be fubar then....
Anyone got one second hand thy want to shift?
The only thing left i can think of, the RCA cables have a third wire attatched to them, running the entire way along from one end to the other. this wire has bare ends and there seems to be no use for it that I can see. Should this be clipped on somewhere?
Thats just a remote cable, some RCA cables come with it.
but have you got a remote cable wired up ?
yea it's all wired correctly. I think it must be the amp. I'd like to find a way to check the wiring. But i guess the only way is to find an amp I know does work and wire it up!

where ever u earth the amp make sure it is bare metal( sand paint away)
It's earthed on the same point as the tail lights. And they work.
So I'm sure it isn't that!
