Steering Wheel Removal

Can someone please tell me the best way to remove a steering wheel from a nova - I have obviously removed the horn pad and the nut but the steering wheel won't budge. The Haynes is no help eiher!

your ment to get a special tong thing to get it off,
however,get hammer and tap the steering colum,
hit it to hard and you can damage the crumble zone.
but just bang it and duck

also pull it from side 2 side and try and pull it off as hard as u can. dont forget 2 leave the nut slightly on or u end up in the back seat with a steering wheel wraped ur head!!!

well il hav to correct u there heheheheheh joke.
my expience was,
not nut on banged it,spring pushed it it banged me in the face,hurt my eye,i throw my head back and hit the headrest which hurt then throw myself forward and smacked my eye on the exposed metal coloum,
1 black eye and very blood shot,
serious m8 take care doing this,more dangous that pack of loins heheheheheheh

Cheers people, I finally got the little bu***r off and used the side to side method as I didn't fancy hitting anything with a hammer (me and hammers don't mix).
