now i may get a telling off for this but i want to try and find out if there really is any point in it.

the reason being, i just replied to a thread and tried to put the word sh1te. to me i dont understand how the word sh1te can be offencive and need **** in any way. yet i also know that it is in fact the word sh1t that is being blanked. but once again i dont see why such a word has to be blanked.

so therefore a quick poll to see if such useful words such as sh1t and fcuk really need to be blanked.

p.s. i appreciate that such words as cu nt do cause offence to some ladies and therefore do need to be sensored

altho its sometimes useful () to be able to swear, it doesnt really make much difference, except maybe making the whole site seem more friendly and have a lighter athmosphere...:thumb:

In other words: Bothered!!! lol lol

Doesnt really bother me at all i do know what j4mes is saying , but i can see where burgo is comeing from . a bet 95% of user's to PNG are mid average males that swear daily and are hardly offended by such words .

Ps : I dont really swear anyway but i do think that small time words should be allowed as most of us are hardly kids . But the law is the law and if the admin see that there are such rules , then fare enuf

The way i see it (ive said this on loads of other sites lol )
Is, if the word is published in the English dictionary, then people should stop being soft and stop taking offense to said words

Depends on what context it's being used I suppose

It's probably not an issue as everyone seems to be able to create the intended swear word by either swapping letters around or changing "$" for "s" etc etc.

I do like how it filters out S****horpe though. lol

say for example you are viewing the site at work and there is a thread that is of interest but a few posts are filled with profanity (spelling), and someone sees it they might whinge and you could get a warning etc etc.... we all know how pedantic some people are.

Un swearfiltered forums work well, but then again there isnt actually that much swearing on them as there is no need for it, How far "you lot" can be trusted with the filters turned off is beyond me lol

i dont swear much so dont see the point down the pub on a rampage maybe, but i dont think swearing at/around people you dont know goes down to well as some people/s every other word is #### #### ######## and no it's not big and not hard as most people who swear all the time are also skinny little runts who use words like bro, innit, dred, star, rob/vandalise you cars and txt talk oh and wear there hats in a stupid position no offence to those who live in liverpool and manchester i know it comes natural lol kiddin rant over

the best one I found so far is the common word for a funeral car

he**** - that's right h e a r s e

It is so offensive that it needs banning for the protection of our moral decency....

edit..

found another one c****ats, yes folks, c a r s e a t s should be banned

Txt tlk filter would be better in my opinion!

And like someone previous said, if people want to sware, they usualy just swap/replace the letters, so when you skim read it, it looks normally spelt.

LOL

I know how to get round the swear filter, but I'm not going to say how as I think it should be kept as is :p

the swear filter is a tad on the dumb side. and Wisewood tried to put a text speak corrector in the filter but it was nearly impossible to cover ALL the retardedness in the world lol.

plus it wouldnt educate the morons either (ie tell them to stop and they might learn something)
