General question

Sorry if theres a thread somewhere explaining my question but i have looked and not succeded
Am i right or wrong in asuming that alot of mk 2 parts fit the mk1 such as bumpers , dash , exhaust , suspension , interior ect ... also

As i have a 5 door and i am going to be looking for 2 new front doors at some point ... do the 5 door nova's have the same size front doors as the 3 doors ?

As far as I know 5drs doors are diffrent to 3 doors, the majority of stuff can all be swapped over. But I believe saloons have diffrent backboxes to the hatches.

Other than that, yep, just swap it over.

3 door doors do not fit on a 5door the 3door doors are bigger , wow to many doors in that sentance

Right cos i have got the 5 door hatch , al just have to visit a few local scrappers then wont i .... cheers lads

5dr doors are smaller than 3dr doors.

Suspension is the same between Mk1 > Mk2. Dash will fit but you'd be advised to get all the switches and a length of wire with each as some need rewiring. Bumpers will fit, but the front won't look right unless you do the whole lot and the grille won't sit right. Exhaust comes out at an angle on a Mk1, the Mk2 is straight. The rest of the interior should all swap over like for like (so Mk1 5dr parts fit a Mk2 5dr)

I've just took a front and rear off a 5 door for my 3 door what am i going to have to do i don't get ya?

He means between mk1 and mk2, not 3doors and 5doors.

To do a proper MK2 conversion on the front, you'll need bumper, lights, grill and wings.

Its possible to get away without changing the wings by cut and shutting the MK1 indicators and extending the bottom of the grill, but to do it properly, new wings are by far the better option.

Bumper along wont' look right IMO, there will be a slight gap under the headlights. The only grille that would fit properly will be a pre-facelift mk1 saloon grille, like this:
