xe into nova wiring

anybody want ti give me a bit of help with my wiring i mostly need help with the engine loom on a late dizzy less loom need to find out about what the wires are for on the black engine loom plug i know some are the starter cos i got it to turn over today cheers:thumb:

Stop where you are. You shouldnt be using any of the wires in that big black plug. The starter should be running from the original nova loom!

You use the nova starter loom. Back/red to starter blue/white to alternator etc.

well my m8 been at the nova all day cant get a spark need to know 2 things
1. will it start without an alternator ours has gone missing
2. what are the solid brown and brown/white wires for on the nova loom
i think one problem is the guy who owned it before us had a dizzy engine and our is the coil pack later one cheers .

solid brown and brown one on a largish 2 pin plug is for the rad temp switch (bottom left of rad)

dizzy/dizzyless shouldn't matter as wires would still join to the car the same way.

Have you got your fuel lines on the correct way round (inlet right, return left)?
Are you getting power at the fuel pump under cranking?

fuel lines are ok those brown wires have been lengthened by previos idiot he has them coming from the nova loom round the slam pannel and into drivers side dont know why same with the fuel pump he has that wired up to a switch on the dash. so it turns fuel pump powers up but no spark going to check /renew the earths cheers for the help

the borwn/brown white is meant to go down to the drivers side headlamp where it plugs into the side of the rad.

The fuel pump would have bee wired up to a switch as an extra kill function like an immobiliser - quite a common thing.

what do i do with the blue and white

Temp switch wires were extended so he could turn the fan on manually as well. A useful feature that is.

Blue/white goes to alternator. Should be on the nova loom, not the engine harness.

Via the engine loom. Think its a 3 pin plug.

(its a DISpack, not a coilpack by the way)

Should run without it as long as your battery has plenty of juice.

ok thought it would brake a circuit if it was not fitted going to get some new earth straps tommorrow and go down and give it a go

what was wrong?

also what size wheels you running cos I had a bastid job of getting 888s to fit under the arches on 16s. Probably better going Yoko A048s as the tyre wall is straighter. 888s baloon too much.

had a missing earth great to hear it running again tho will give it a we oil change and a new belt before we go up. wheels are 15s 7j et37 going for 195/45/15 but they might be getting changed to 14s going for accelation more than top end cheers for your help bud

Think he means engine side Ad.

Goes to the thremostat housing, on the left as you look at the engine. Youll see a small copper button which you need to clip a spade connector onto.
