My gf and I are thinking about going in for our CBT as a laugh.

Whats the low down on this.. ie cost, time frame, engine size restrictions etc.

If your talking about you compulsary basic training for ya motorbike i belive its alongs the lines of these;

- Cost ?100~
- 9 - 5, for 1 day
- Then you can ride anything up to 125cc with no more than 33bhp?

Im not sure on the last one. but the money and time is what i spend doing on mine. and you cant fail.

It only last 2 years aswell... mine runs out april.

If you fail your the thickest person going.

Seriously you can't fail.

Is it still the case where if you're over 25 (?) you can basically do the tests (CBT and another one..?) and get on any bike you like?

I imagine that most of that ?100 is the training, and that within 2 years most would have applied for their full bike license. :)

right i was looking into it for my birthday cuz im 16today woo lol anyway

Provisional License ?45ish ( Guessin you dont need one if you are driving already)
Cbt ?100ish
Bike ?500ish good scooter
Insurance ?200 ( For 16 Yearold)
your cbt restricts you to 33bhp if you have a drivers license i think so that means u could get any bike i.e gsxr1100 but with a restricter on it i think not to sure i only know about when ur 16 and you are only allowed 50cc

Direct Access, thats the badger

Direct access

After taking CBT and the theory test, the practical test may be taken on a motorcycle with a power output of at least 35kW. A pass allows you to ride any size of bike. All or part of the CBT course may be taken on either a learner bike or a large bike. You may practice for the practical test on bikes larger than the learner bike specification

CBT last 2 years and allows up to a 125cc around 12BHP

Restricted access allows up to 33BHP, not sure on time limit, it was recently changed then you can ride what you want.

Direct access, ride what you want :D

Full nut and bolt rebuild with loads of new bits and bobs, jack up kit, dep front and rear pipe upjetted and uprated emulsion tube, 2002 plastics. Best of all it was an early model (k reg) so none of that restricted cdi crap

It was a right heap before I started on it and was being used on the feilds, came with all the road gear and plate so converted it back, heres how it used to look.

Never was keen on the supermoto versions.
