try www.questmead.co.uk (http://www.questmead.co.uk) askto speak to alan hes the boss what he dont know about brakes aint worth knowing :thumb:
If not im sure 1144s are almost as good. Thats what i'll be getting for mine next.
i wouldn't use 1144's for track !
http://www.rsmmotorsport.co.uk/
Might have to call them... but they will definetly sell them, it's a local shop... bought a set this summer + i get everything from there !
1144's are fine on track but they are a little soft so wear out faster... 1155's give near identicle behaviour but last longer.
questmead are the nuts :D
also you could try autovaux as most mintex suppliers can order any compound available (unlike ferrodo who are *******s in that respect lol)
they sell the 1144's and the 1155's on there

Ouch! ?80 for a set of pads?
Are 1155s for track use or they just better than the 1144s?
Track use - you need to warm them up before they work, so I've been told.
Cheers for the replies. What di you pay for yours Nick, can you remember?
they do work from cold... think of them as std pads when cold, then get some heat in ;) face meet windscreen.
oh and I'd sooner pay 10 times more for some funky pads over STD than spend a fortune on some rubbish drilled and spangly discs that will perform no better than std plain discs.
they certainly work well on the VX (where greenstuff are **** too) therefore they would work well on a nova..
Infact I scrapped a set of 1155's when my nova went to the scrappy in the sky, I paid ?55 for mine from a motorfactors.
Think i might invest in some,Lol.
This is my verdict after using 44's and 55's in both cars, on track, and in comparison to other pads.
44's - They're great from cold, however i don't really feel MUCH difference when they're hot. In the nova, on track, i didn't feel confident with them. However, for ?40 they're MUCH better than say EBC greenstuffs. In the XR2 they're fantastic for a road car.. and they don't squeal !
55's - They're pretty lame untill you've got the slightest bit of heat into them i.e a couple of road junctions. But they're flipping amazing once they're warm and they worked a treat at llandow. Personally i can tell a huge difference between them and the 44's . But they squeal at low speeds which is annoying..
I think i remember paying something around ?70 for 55's ! And that's with a bit of discount. The 44's are ?35-40 or something like that... The Ferrodo equivalents for my friends S14 are ?120 !

motorfactors, eh? I'll ask at work tomorrow then... Whats that? cost plus 10% - cheers :D
Nick - Mine will be a track car so squealing, etc doesn't bother me. Be lucky if the car does 3000miles a year on the road TBH just in case work can't get hold off them for any reason, what did you pay for 1155's roughly?

where you get the 44's for that, both side's posted have them at 80+ for 16v brakes?
Same as, im using greenstuff pads with ebc discs and tbh the std mintex pads and discs I got off ebay for ?40 were loads better!
Would it be ok to use the 1155s for a road car with my ebc discs?
They sell the mintex high/race spec pads here:
http://www.piper-cams.co.uk/
Not sure what the going rate is tho, so they may be more expensive than some other places.
Using 1144's on mine, got them from Rally designs.
Haven't got a bad thing to say about them, work from cold, will quite happily do 140 - 0 mph stops, never had them fade really either.
Done about 8k miles in mine and theres still plenty material on them.
Also found them here:

Ive heard the "MaxTorq" pads that Rally Design sell are very good, and only cost 20 notes.

Same as. Used mine on 4 track days and couldn't say a bad word against them.
Highly recommened.:thumb:

Ash what caliper type are you after?
standard issue 2.0 16v brakes. Was going for willwood 4 pots, but bank balance says NO!
Spoke to Vauxhall today who will swap my knackered old calipers for recon-ed ones @ ?80 the pair :)
Also to note Motorfactors wanted ?90+ +VAT for the mintex 1144's! didn't bother asking for 1155's lol
Ash, that's rubbish.
i'm sure it was ?72 for the front pair, but i tend to get a LITTLE bit off due to being a valued customer (aka. spending a ****ing fortune there) . I've mentioned the website.... think they do mail order ! and that was for 55's
I did the vauxhall exhchange thingy, the new calipers were minty mint :)
lol - i've got a few places like that. On their site atm, will let you know how I get on, might have a plan ;)
My old calipers aren't even matching as used to pull to one side under braking. So useless on a track car.
