well, the doors have been de-locked now, but i've notcied there's rust bubbling throught the drivers side door, its still got plenty of paint on, but its lookin like its gonna be back, is there and way i can slow it down??? coz its just cost me ?75 a door to de-lock em!

any advice peeps?!

they shouldnt have gone ahead and de-locked it if there was rust on it unless they treated it. Because that is bang out of order. what the best thing to do is.

Remove the trim from the inside and inspect the inside thourghly. if it is infected youve got problems and i would take it back and throw it at them!

to be honest here, legal you aint coverd for jack shit.
see they have done the work you ask them to and is the work faulty?no.so they dont have to give you ur money back or do anther door, life sucks.
best thing i would do to be honest is strip the paint off(ouch i no) and get some decent rust eater, fill it down and get it paint match,
best ya can do.
to be honest you personnal should of check the door,as thats not there job,not being nasty but they gonna do the work as they earn dosh outa it,not there problem if its got rust on anther part of the door.
sorry

yes hayz your right

i wasnt saying they are legally bound too but ethically they should let you know, its kinda like asking the garage to change your headgasket and them not recomending to get the head skimmed, cause they know it needs doing and they would get the work.

But yes you should have checked the door

most garages/body shops cover work for 12 months (ones I;ve used have) - check woth them 1st. If there is rust on the inside of the door where the lock used to be then its eaten through yer door.

Alternatively, it could be trapped water from condensation under the paint due to a small crack higher up ffrom the rust (like under the dooor handle) in which case it maybe just surface rust thats bubbled the paint. push one of the bubbles - if it bursts and water comes out, you maybe ok - easier to fix - youre still gonna need to stri it back and treat it though.

how long ago was it you had the work done?
Did they weld a plate over the back?
If its less than 6 months, I'd go back and point it out - if they dont do anything for ya, then speak to trading standards - basically its dodgy workmanship and you might be in luck - esecially as welding was involved (although it wasnt structural).

you never know...

huh,i think i missed sumthing,is that post menta b here,oh well,
ade sorry but trading standards wont do fuck all.
see he paid them, for example to weld and smooth the area,NOT TREAT RUST.
id just treat ya rust and learn from the expience,
saldy this is the joy of a steel car which isnt gavlanised.
sorry

a bit tight really the poor sod just paid em ?1500 to fit some bumpers and de-lock and spray the doors, and to spray the doors they need to prep them! and they obviously aint prepped em correctly if you can see rust coming through and it was only painted last week!

I know there is rust there, its just bubbling at the bottom of the door, nothin to do with BAT, they have nothing wrong, i should of asked them to mend it for me really shouldn't i. so it is my fault.....so i'm now wondering what i can do! its the only bit of rust on the car, and its bubbling through the lower bit on the drivers side door, should i take to it with a sander....and take it all off....then re-spray it? will this not wear down metal on the door if i have to grind it aswell?

you can slow it down but wont ever go (on the doors anyhow) have a look inside and see how bad its infected as my passenger door has only a tiny bit outside but realy bad inside.

Same thing happened mine on the passenger door, the best panel beater i know told me that if you wanna get rid of that problem u hav to cut the rust off and spot weld another piece of fresh metal in. :o :o

spot weld it on?oooooooooook not the way id do it,but neva mind.
listen once rust is there,ya busted, because it gets under the paint and speds,
yes cutting it out slow it down, but wont get rid of it.
to be honest id just get a replacment door.a mint one, there are loads about, and just spend the extra getting ti d lock.
ive got this problem with rot on my sr,but coz it vinal i didnt notice it til it was to l8,
so im just letting it rot away,as its cheap to get a new door than weld one up.

Steve you were getting em painted anyhow, lol.

So what it look like?

True about welding bits on though!

Dont bother with new skins either as they are a real sh*t to fit.

A decent door should be between ?30-50 although some want near on ?100!!! (supernovas)
