Quick help!

Just fitting a Digi dash, got the new transducer on, but the wires coming from it are a mess and are chopped and reconnected in so many places. Am i right in thinking black is live, brown is earth?

I've got the guide on doing it but the wiring bit looks complex, may be back on in a sec with more questions. For the time being though, it is the brown wire i am earthing somewhere right?

p.s this is the worst job to do in gale force winds, the top of my head has recived many smacks from the bonnet :(

Oh for **** sake. Barely any of the wires on the diagram correspond to the colours of the wires on the loom. I need an expert, preferably one who worked for vauxhall in the late 80s early 90s who specialized in wiring....
