Being that you can buy a complete Calibra or Cavalier turbo for a grand or less it gives you an idea of what the engines are really worth.

Certainly need to know more about the engine if you want a rough idea on what its worth, it wont have a 4-2-1 thats for sure.

I'd want to know if its chipped, what power it was running, what head gasket it has.

List everything it comes with and I'll give you an idea of what I think its worth

that used to be the case, I cant for the life of me find one for anywhere near 1k

You better off looking for a corsa / nova with one in to break lol

A decent engine an box will fetch 1.5k all day long, but most have been to the moon an back an hence can be picked up cheaper but requiring a massive rebuild.

Phil, thats becuase Turbo_Chris keeps beating us there LOL

I did miss a complete Cav Turbo for ?900 the other week and the same person has a fully rebuilt engine with JE's TT KKK, cometics, 6 speed for 2k, currently unrun which tbh is what puts me off.

2nd hand LETS worry me which is why I feel they are not worth a lot, as you say they are not the cheapest things to rebuild.

LETs are far too over priced IMO.

There perceived value hasnt dipped in years, all the time they are clocking up the miles.

As for value, if I arrived & paid ?3000 for it, thats essentially what its worth.

Tbh I say a grandish. A well known user on here & MIG has been trying to shift a LET with P2 chips & a reconned turbo for ?900. I'd be tempted to ignore the playground spec of the one in this thread & go with another one.
