View Full Version : Why are nova`s pointed at the front?
Is there a reason for the triangle front?
Also is it structual (sp?) or just cosmetic?
Meaning, could i make it flat at the front like a normal car without making it unsafe?
Without spending thousands.....

why make cars look like anything? i think cars should look like loaves of bread.
perhaps if you are a lover of the nova then you should seek to find the answers to your quest here. it will delve into the depths of the development novas and teach you to love and cherrish them

I am sure aerodynamics have something to do with it plus it follows the Vaxhall design of the 80's.
Although the Nova appears to have the aerodynamics of a brick I think it was quite aerodynamically advanced in its time.
A slightly pointed front will break wind(No jokes please!) easier than a slab fronted one I would have thought.
Right, i might aswell give my idea/plans away
I dont like the fact the number plate has to either be bent, or away from the bumper at each end when mounted
So what i want to do is make a little recess of some sort so it mounts flat, but still in the middle of the bumper
Now i know i`ll have to cut the bumper iron to do that and weld a brace in behind it, but is there anything on the actual body that the "flat" recess will foul? and if so, will that be ok to cut away without the whole shell falling in like a wet cardboard box lol
Ive not had chance to inspect on the actual car yet, as ive just thought about doing it tonight

you must have a mk1 as mk2s are recessed anyway?

Indeed. Your problem is the fact you have a MK1. Facelift it to a MK2, and stick the dash in while your at it.
Forward your old dash onto Myself or RJ so we can torture it.
Its ok, ive looked and i can make a flat recess that wont/shouldnt foul anything - whoop! :)
the 'pointed front end' was indeed the style of the vauxhall range in the 80's the mk2 cavalier and the mk1 astra had the same design feature.

i think a flat-fronted nova would look absolutely gash........
A FULL flat fronted one would yes

why change it? if you was going to change it you might aswell buy another car with a flat front, instead of recking a perfectly good nova

As i said though, i dont want a FULL flat front, i just want to make the plate sit flat and not over hang the mounts in a retarded manor :tard:
I`d love a mk2 festa, not too keen on uno`s (well the turbo is a bit specil)
And i have a VW :p
