Will a H7 bulb fit into a lamp housing for a H4 bulb? If not, are there any other single filament bulbs that will fit?

As far as I am aware, no, as your probably ware the back plates are totally different, why are you exploring this avenue out of interest?

Even if you could fit then they'd only be any good for main beam only I would guess, as no shrould to restrict beam for dip.

I assume it is for road use?

I'm guessing for fogs???

H7 is main beam, its got the cap on the end. H3 is fog/spot, and H1 is full beam (no cap).

I was thinking about converting my outer lamps to single filament HID instead of having a bi-xenon jobbie, or crappy rotating cover. If bi-xenon HIDs keep the HID element on at full beam though I may just run with one of those.

Then I did go on to think about making them fully legit, but that would involve using different, approved, 5.25" HID lamps, auto adjusters, and washers lol

[edit] I have an irmscher quad light panel btw, so have inner lamps which are currently full beam with a H3. Outers are dual filament H4s.
