hi all,
i thought i'd bight the bullet and call for an insurance quote on my xe nova that is going to be used for trackdays and pod now and again.
rang adrian flux explained the mods etc and they quoted me ?489 tpft for driving to and from events...
i'm 22 with 1 years ncb and an accident a year ago
just wondering how much it would cost for a limited mileage policy now...
What do people think?
cheers
chris
Is that just to drive to and from events ? surely they must have capped you on a mileage !?
I personally think you're going about it the wrong way. Get the cheapest insurance cover you can find... and then get a seperate "track" policy each time you do a track-day.
The one-off payments usually work on the value of your car. For example my friends EVO 6 with an agreed value of ?12k was only about ?80 for full cover for the whole day.
Theres a couple of specialists that do it, I'd be a bit weary of using the "free cover" that you sometimes get offered with Adrian/HIC . I'l dig the numbers out for you if you like, they're well used amongst the 12 Car/Road Rally chaps.
I don't personally bother, even though it'd be about ?40-50 ! But i would do if i had a fancy shell or a more expensive car.

i think that is purely to drive to and from events... but i asked if i could have a fully comp quote and they wouldn;t do it for that type of cover...
i dont have to tell them what event i'm going to etc, so i guess if you have an accident they'll want to know!
if you could find some numbers for companies that would cover an xe nova. i'd like to take it for a spin on the roads now and again etc. so would only need a low mileage policy under 5k
cheers!

you can't sat that craig, and not tell me an alternative...
i just need insurance so i can drive the car to the track and go for a spin now and again when i get bored etc :)
HIC
Although i think them and Flux are now the same company.
Bear in mind you can only get trackday cover for your own car, IE you wont be covered for ramming into Mr Posh's very expensive porschebeemer benz if you happen to decide to ram him.
Due to it being a Nova, and the chances of stacking it on track are pretty slim (unless your a nutter or aren't very good at reading whats going on around you), its not really worth it unless your agreed value is way up into the 1000's.
Save your cash and just insure the car for the road. If you DO bend it, its a reshell and maybe some suspension bits, which can be bought for not much more than the added premium.

i wasn't too bothered about insurance for on the track, i was looking for a limited mile policy so i drive the car to the track and back and "about" if and when i fancied it...
what companies will insure an xe nova then? other than HUC and Flux?

Yep.
Try Sky as well, I think they do track cover.
If you just want to and from a track with a few extra miles here and there though, get a limited mileage classic policy.

thats exactly what i wanted! i'm with lancaster on the manta, i might give them a call tomorrow!
And the bottom line... Adrian flux are ****ing ****.
I've been with them for 3 years. no end of hassle, Loosing paper-work, Faxes e.t.c
I had to send EVERYTHING to them via recorded delivery/recorded fax and they still lost it. You'l get a text from them once a week telling you your policy is about to be cancelled e.t.c
They are a joke.

On the spin side I've been with Flux for years and never had a problem. I always used to swear by HIC (this is long before they were part of Flux) until I dropped a standard LET into my Cav GSi and the premium went through the roof... Flux quoted fully comp at just over half what HIC wanted for tpf&t!!!

waiting for lancaster to get back to me with a quote as i had my manta insured with them.
