Whats the budget?
Inlet box is a good start point, then exhaust, cams, remap.

Bike carbs and mega jolt will give you the most power for your money.Miles better than powerbox`s and remaps.
Then as said a decent manifold and exhaust system and cams/headwork.

What cam is recomended without changing pistons? Is piston clearance an issue? And what power might one expect from a standard X16XEL on TB's?

Sorry to hijack.

Max duration cams on std pistons is about 266deg.
More than that needs the pockets deepening in the pistons.
About 150ish bhp is right for a standard engine, on lets say a SBD(jenvey/mbe) TB setup.

Bike carbs are specifically designed for high revving bike engines, and will never give as good fueling as efi.
SBD sell twin weber kits, and a MBE ignition setup, and get 140bhp on a dyno. So id say 130bhp is more in the right place for bike carbs/mj(a lot of power is lost in some bike carb setups due to badly designed/flawed inlets)

You can get 150ish bhp, with an inlet box/exhaust manifold/good cams, and a mappable ecu setup to control it. And it'll run well under all conditions, and return good mpg.
