I've thought up two options for the Nova when it returns. Cureently I just have 6x9s in the parcel shelf and would like a bit more sound than they can give by themselves. So I thought either remove the rear seats and build mdf benches along the sides covering the arches and mount speakers in them. Or just whack an 8" (or what size fits) sub in the middle of the parcel shelf with the amp on the back of the seats.
Or any other ideas?
Whats your budget, and do you want sound quality or volume?
A sub in the parcel shelf will be a bit... well, crap tbh. Much better off building a sub box in the boot.

just go spend ?60 in motorworld and you get a 12"jbl sub and amp (sorted)
Kind of didnt want to lose too much boot space. A hatchback boot isn't massive as it is. Put a cubic foot box in the back and it's considerably smaller.
The budget is hard to say as it will be an ongoing thing. It won't be a single large purchase. I was thinking of stripping a bit out of it anyway. I have a pair of bucket seats come up cheap from a friend and since they wouldn't rock forward I was/am tempted to put them in and lose the back bench altogether. Then just carpet the floor and knock up some basic install. I'm not looking for anything massive or ott. Just a bit more than I have got.

You could build a custom box encompassing one of the arches, that'll take up a lot less space than a pre-made box. I half wish I'd done that now.

Could splash out on the newish pioneer flat subs.
I think they might fit under seats ;)
