View Full Version : Stainless Steel Wing Fixings.

Got tired scabby wing fixings?
Painted your car a different colour and the old colour shows through because your spanner has chipped the paint?
I have found an ideal solution.
Stainless steel Allen key bolts, stainless steel nyloc nuts and stainless steel penny washers.
All from Screwfit Direct, however you can only buy them in bulk bags.
I bought 50 Allen key bolts, 100 nyloc nuts and 5 bags of 10 washers (all M5) for ?7.98.
The product code for each item is as follows, should you wish to get them yourself:
14216-90 = S/Steel Socket Cap Screw M5*20
64839-90 = M5 A2 Penny Washer
54093-90 = Nylon Lock Nuts M5
As they are so cheap, I am happy to sell sets cheap and free postage.
Each fixing costs me 21p and paypal costs me money too so:
?4.00 a set if you are interested. (1 set is 12 nuts and bolts & 24 washers)
Here are how they look:
Original fixing with blue paint showing through:

1 new fixing:

O/S wing (you also remove the little clip that the original fixing screws into):

N/S wing:

What I currently have left on my desk.

Cheers,
Shaun.
p.s. Can I also add that the washer diameter is the same as the original fixing, so any witness marks are covered up.

very good idea mate, am gonna do this my self i think, imo rather than using nut a bolt because we all know there a pain in the **** use riv nuts and the bolts, that would be spot on !!!

Don't do what I done and sell them on, then figure out you're making a huge loss....lol lol
If I sell all I have I'll still be ?4 out of pocket, but then that's ?4 towards the set I've used plus some left over bits.
Cheers shaun, fitted mine today, well all besides the bottom one, that looks a right bastid to get a socket in there!

Cheers shaun, fitted mine today, well all besides the bottom one, that looks a right bastid to get a socket in there!
It is a fiddly little sucker, I used a 4mm allen key attachment on my cordless drill and an 8mm spanner, if that helps.
Cheers again,
Shaun.
Its the bottom one right by the headlight that ive left as you cant get a spanner in there and I havent got a small enough extension to get the nut on.

The O/S one isn't too hard, plenty of room there, the N/S one I removed the headlamp so get more access.
It's just fiddly to try and hold the nut and washer in the same grip whilst trying to manouvre your hand in.
Patience Daniel-son, you will be triumphant after the hundredth attempt.
Forgot to say received in record time and looks like I got a bargin!

They use 4mm allen keys and an 8mm spanner to tighten, don't need anything bigger.:thumb:

Will the bolts still fit if the clips are on? My wings are already on the car and I don't really want to take them off again. Thanks.
Shaun_O'Donnell
05-11-08, 02:12 PM
The wings don't have to come off to remove the clips, but yeah, the clips need to come off.

Thanks for your help. One more quick question, do you know if the standard wing bolts will fit the stainless washers you used? Thanks.
Shaun_O'Donnell
10-11-08, 10:46 AM
No, they wont fit. They are M4's, you would have to drill them to use the standard bolts, or buy a suitable sized washer.

Ok thanks.
