I'm getting annoyed at the amount of nice 2.0 for sale and the sheer lack of anything else for sale...so...

I'm 24, have 2 years no claims, have company car, garage, own a house in a good post code, etc

What should I pay?

i'm not too fussed, its only a track day toy along with my manta. only goign to have the 306 dturbo on the road as a daily driver from now on.

if i had a job, and spare cash i'd think about it...

Try Adrian Flux/HIC and Sky.

I would expect to pay approximately ?450-500 for a classic policy (~6k miles), around ?750-850 for an everyday SD&C policy (assuming clean license, no claims etc)

you should buy a 2.0 and convert it back to std form. then you will have a beast that is both elligant and beautiful. and also cheap to run insure.

First car? no chance im afraid, if they do quote you it'll be over ?3k

Best off getting a 1.0 or a 1.2 for your first car, that'll be a bout a grand insurance as it is.

RG is grades A to C, so not too bad but as said for a first car at 18 you may have problems lol

Unfortunately, that will still be considered an engine conversion. Won't be as expensive as having a 2.0 engine in, but more expensive than the same car with all its original parts. Bear in mind, theoretically, if you've swapped the car's engine for one of the same capacity you still need to inform the insurance company.

since you have another car you could insure the car on classic insurance as long as its over 15 years old which most are now hic do modified classic insurance the other bonus is you dont use ncd so you can save your 2 years for something else, my saloon with xe 48 webers cams and alot of other mods only cost ?300 fully comp with a ?75 xs, and for an extra ?25 you get an agreed valuation bargin im 28, but i think saloony also uses them and hes under 25
