Took the words right out of my mouth. I've seen VWs on the road in worse condition than that lol

Shame one of the arch trims is missing, that would suit a saloon perfectly.

Although I do want the headlamp washers! :D

they're similar recaros to what were fitted to my manta gte... comfy as and so supportive. far better than the nova gte/gsi seats.

Mike.
24-02-08, 07:24 PM
its a crying shame its ended up like that, but it'll have some good parts on it still surely

Dave.
24-02-08, 07:27 PM
well.. the whole rear drivers 1/4 has rotted away, literally, the bonnet is about th snap into a thousand pieces, its truley a rot box, chassis is very close to snapping, the scrap yard even scared of lifting it up incase the roof seperates from the car lol

Christ
24-02-08, 07:42 PM
must be worth a bit for the engine, isnt that the dizzy you need to find to run bike carbs etc on an xe?

abit of T.L.C and it would be back ot new. some time on the bodywork(5 years) then some elbow grease and a buff it will be as good as newlol

it still gets me nostalgic, I owned three mk1's.. If anyone finds a decent mk1 estate, let me know cos I've always thought it would make a fine pickup conversion, & the big block engines fit in really easily.

a pressure wash and a T cut it wont look so bad. then carpet shampoo the interior and it will not be looking so bad. you are so quick to judge this poor car. i think it should be saved from the nasty scrap yard and go to someone that is has nice feelings and sympathy for such an old classic car. that is indeed very rare and complete!!

just vaux trev
25-02-08, 12:12 PM
i agree it should be saved and also if i had the space i would be on the phone now love mk1's im sure you have space dave

SRimon
25-02-08, 12:40 PM
Looking at it i highly doubt it could be saved...

Parts however are going to be very useful for some mk1 owner.
