5 speed box with a 4 speed selector

i have just finished fitting a 5 sped box into my car nova and i cannot set the linkage up so that i have all 5 speeds, its either 5 gears or 4 speed and reverse! anyone give me any ideas on whats going on? i have heard that i might have to modify the selector in the car but not sure if this is right?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

there is a lug that stops the gear stick to 5th. chop it off with a hacksaw. If your sitting in the driving sear it will be next to your left leg.

it is simple enough to change the selector mate. four 10mm bolts underneath the car holding the case to the car and one 13mm bolt going to the gearbox,

Lift the gear gaiter off, if there's a square lump of plastic on the right hand side of the lever just above the ball joint, hacksaw that lump off. Set linkage up as per instructions in the haynes, you should now be able to get fifth and reverse. Should take no more than 10 mins to do.
