just remove teh adaprtor from the oil fiter housing
Remove the sandwich plate, theres a 10mm (i think) allen key bit in the middle, you will then need a bit to screw back in so your oil filter can be connected again. Its a double ended dowel
Its a few quid to get from your vauxhall dealer, they will be able to order it for you

If you blocked off those holes you'd block the oil flow...
I dont know how the bigblock ones compare to smallblock, but all I had to do to remove my smallblock one was remove the adapter, then take some pipe grips to the insert from an engine in a scrappers, fit the threaded tube to my engine+job done.

NP, there should be a fourth pic showing that hole in my engine block plugged with the threaded insert, but I cant find it, and it look like a normal one anyway :).
undo the allen key bolt and take off sandwich plate. buy the other bolt to screw into block from vauxhall, part no. 90144360 bout A fiver! job done!
