The chassis of my Dads 1932 Morris Minor is made from Ash (a type of wood) and is surprisingly light, it shows that this isn't that revolutionary in terms of a chassis, but all the other components made from wood?? The Morris' 850-odd cc engine doesn't have enough power to flex the chassis though!
I suppose you'd have to look out for woodworm round the rear arches too.

My dad built a car with a wooden engine, & it wooden start!!!! TAXI!!!!!!

Seriously, hasn't anyone heard of a marcos?? back in the fifties, Frank Costin & Jem Marsh were building plywood chassised sports cars. only the later ones had steel chassis for strength when they were fitting v6 essex lumps.

I think this splinter is yet another dreamer's project. especially in america, the home of litigation, and also the home of supercars that can't go round corners, (corvette, viper, mustang, that vector thing, to name a few), & who in their right mind would try to create suspension components out of wood??

The possibilities of laminated wood is endless.

In terms of building construction you can achieve rediculously large spans using Glu-laminated timber members (40meters +) in modest sizes.

It's basically really ****ing strong. Most people would probably think that this car will be a flexy peice of ****, but i reckon you'd be seriously suprised about how ridgid and strong it really it !

Also, no rust ! :) Just lamination problems ha
