Wheres the welding been done?
If its not in sight, clean the weld up, primer it, seam seal it, then paint it(any colour will do obviously), and then underseal.
inner wings, arches etc.. rear arches(underneath obvs) after turrets been fittied

Definately don't forget to seam sealer.
For rear arches depends on the weld you use - if you lap weld then etch prime both sides and make sure you stick on a nice wad of seam sealer from the inside of the car where the lap is visible. If butt welding make sure good prenetration and etch prime both sides. I was advised for the actual lip it's not worth welding this but bond it with a ruddy good adhesive like tiger seal of similar - You could puddle weld the inner / outer lips together - the original arches were spot welded.
Wherever you weld - etch prime, then smooth (if necessary) with a skim of filler, smooth, prime and spray - if inner wings or underside use a good sealer like shutz or underbody seal. Inner wings once sealed up waxoyl the whole inside of the car and get a ruddy good probs right down into the depths!
Etch primer is the best but you could also give it a coat of zinc primer for extra safeness!
