You mean a "Clit" car! lol lol :thumb:
OK Bought the car, UK 2000 turbo with Prodrive exhaust in mica blue. You really must drive one of these cars if you haven't ever done! They really do drive well. I would say that in a straight line, it's the same as a standard-ish xe nova for speed but when you come to a corner, it really grips and goes! I have plans for A 3" system with total de-cat, and then an ecutek remap. Will cost me around ?1000-1200 but give me a solid 280-300bhp.
To begin with, I've done some cosmetic stuff!!!!!!!
Frosty out LOL!!

Love these cars, classics more than newage or bugeye.
I would advise on fitting the taller STI7 scoop and a smaller front number plate to keep things a little cooler in the warmer months.
Not that I condone speeding but over 118mph or so, the aerodynamics of these cars force air above the standard scoop rather than in through it, so it's quite a common modification.

Would have looked better W/O tints IMO.

Have you spoken to Cotcomp ?
A couple of my friends have used him and comes highly recommended from them.
Basically, a place (which i wont name on here, but they're BIG in the scooby world) Did a Dodgy Ecutek remap on my friends Bug-eye, they weren't even liscensed to use the software !
Ended up Det'ing itself to peices on a rolling road. Turns out there were some vital modifications needed to run 300hp, Such as Injectors, an STi Cooler and some Pipework from the Sti - or something along those lines.
And as far as i'm aware... He mapped it with a A & B Map which is switchable using the Heated rear-screen button. Pretty handy

You need the warlbro uprated pump as they run lean (leading to detonation) when you up the boost. Got a guy through Scoobynet doing my ecutek tek 3 remap as it's a MY2000 and need the tek3
Yep, when it was mapped originally the pump wasn't even changed. I think he needed the Cooler/Injectors/Pipework as he upgraded to a VF24 (?) From the STi 7 (?).
I think he made about 330hp, so you should see something close to 290+/- !
What make is your System !?

TBH I didn't think it was that quick when I drove it first time, probably somethng like an XE nova kinda performance in a straight line but it grips and goes around corners fantastic and it's got ditchfinder tyres! It's so much smoother and more sensible than an XE nova that you don't feel that quick.
Anyway, new tyres today. Toyo Proxes 205/40/17" 4 tyres ?200 brand new through my mate at Wheelbase.

DON?T go over 280-300 bhp or will last about five good races, excentric drives! my friends and i love these cars but are fed up with repalce the engines (there very fragile when tune even just a bit).
best go for bit more poer but lots or new fueling, up rated fuel pump, larger RA intercooler or front mounted, pannel filter rather than cone (to keep tempretures down) & ECU re-map. Good luck and be warned!
Had 13 engines re-built / replaced between us!

Latest updates. . . .
After having my stainless 3" system fitted, complete de-cat and a K&N panel filter, uprated Warlbro fuel pump, 440 injectors, uprated intercooler pipework, Zero sports intercooler splitter, it was time for the ECUTEK remap. Had it done by Andy from Scoobyteknix.

Exhaust
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/DSC01404-1.jpg
And was very pleased with 278BHP at the wheels, and 306 lb/ft of torque after 3 hours road/rollers mapping. Cost just under a grand, money well spent!!!!!! Can't squeeze any more power without a bigger cooler and different turbo now, but the TD04 I currently have spools well from 3000 revs all the way up to 5800 revs, and a TD05 or VF28 would have more lag but a better top end.
Decided that I would treat her (UMA is her name) to a full machine polish, autoglym hi-def wax and autoglym sealer.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/autoglym.jpg
And seeing as I'd struggled with the Speedlines, even with spacers, I decided to buy new wheels (Much to my Wife's dismay!)
220 mile round trip to Anglesey o collect, very light Team Dynamics wheels (Pro race I think they are, not the 1.2's) The guy said he'd waited 12 weeks for these as a special order to clear 4/6 pots, and sold the car not long after, removing the brakes and the wheels.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/v010.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/v011.jpg
Gave the brakes anothe lick of black paint on the calipers and brackets, and as much of the disc as I could. .
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/DSC01401.jpg
They just needed a quick refurb, not much just a darker colour with more metallic so my paint guy and I chose a colour, and got them done.
They came with free ditchfinders, so I took em to work, had 'em pulled off and after the refurb, had my Toyo Proxes fitted and whacked em on. . . .

Match the skirts and splitters all black are all blue
The skirts get battered so I doubt I'll code them. . . .

Match the splitter to the colour of the skirts and rear bumper sill? Cars looking good though. Tinited rear lights are nice.

Looking good mate, How about suspension and brakes though? i would suggest that you lower it and improve the braking before you worry about going any faster to be honest, not a fan of the idea of graphics myself but obviously upto you, the back lights do look nice though, whats the long term plans for the car? whilst it's all nice and healthy i would suggest replacing the bottom end bearings as these are what usually go which obviously cause crank float and end up with big trouble, i do like the subarus but they do need a fair bit of tlc.

I'm only gonna get another 20bhp of so with the turbo and cooler because I've got a UK engine and the bottom end won't take much more. I'm limited by the TD04 but the gearbox and bottom end is more likely to go pop with more than 300bhp.
TBH they're very reliable if you maintain them properly and use a proper mapper/ecu (Loadsa people use a dawes device (essentially a bleed valve) and got 300bhp for about 3 weeks and then the bottom end goes pop!) I've got ECUTEK (they're also tuning the Nissan GTR at the mo!)
320mm Godspeed discs and Ferodo pads are next on the shopping list. The car had new (std) shock absorbers in 2006, and they're still fine for the use I get out of the car, and lowering it is unrealistic due to the low front spoiler!
I'm also looking at a 2.5 STI engine from a 2006 breaker in a yard near home, which has 300 as standard, then a full rebuild with my new turbo and 'cooler with standalone APEXI mafless induction/anti lag probably knocking on the door of 400bhp but that'll be at least a year away. I will also need the 6 speed box with DCCD (DriverControllledCentreDifferential) from this breaker car I'm looking at or an RA gearbox.
Lukily, I sold a car to a chap who works in Subaru parts dept recently and he's gonna help me with the build because I've never done anything this advanced before!
have you seen a subaru engine in pieces ? theres about 500million parts lol
and so much for no more tuning but planning a 2.5 STi rebuilt engine

Poppy cock! I used to have a 1997 UK Turbo 2000, one of the blocks with the stupidly hard pistons and huge amounts of piston slap.. It swallowed up 1.35bar all day long and was running well over 300bhp.. Pulled a nice 4.7 second 0-60 at trax :D
Totally standard bottom end..

Not sure why I sold it.
just read through out and all i can say is sweet, love the wheels, love the fog lamp covers. not sure about the tinted windows imo, each to their own.
the rear spoiler is fookin awesome.
i do love scoobys
i just have a lot of love to give lol
carry on with the good work, and i think you should get the full rally decal set

Not poppycock. Just what I have been advised by three different respected tuners!
I'd like to know more about your engine though! What upgrades did you have to the engine as a matter of interest? Clearly not running a TD04? VF series or TD05? When you say "Well over 300bhp" what kinda figures did you have it rolling roaded/roadmapped at, and any idea of torque? Did you have ECUTEK ecu or Apexi? Always like to find out about supporting mods to see what works best together!
Whilst I don't want to start an argument RE: bottom end, and I'm NOT saying that you are wrong, I'd trust Scoobyteknix and Jollygreenmonster/AndrewC (Ecutek mappers) 's advice before your own because of their experience, but I don't doubt that over 300bhp IS possible with std bottom end, just not advisable!
You could have just been very lucky with a very good map with excellent supporting mods, along with a good engine to get the power you had.
At the end of the day, I know my car has been mapped properly with zero detonation and healthy fuelling. AndrewC said that if he leaned it off a little, I would get a little more BHP but potentially lose torque (Which is over 300lb/ft) and raise the risk of det which could potentially lead to a ruined engine, and I followed his advice.

Obviously everything depends on how it's looked after but i wouldnt agree that theyr'e very reliable, i've broken quite a few imprezas now and done a fair bit of work on them and personally have found the bottom ends to be the weak point, as regards to fitting the engine out of the later car i think it takes quite alot of messing about as far as i can remember the coil packs are on top of the heads on the later engines and dont clear the chassis legs, opposed to the coil packs on the classic shape cars which is on top of the block if i remember correctley?

If you read my posts again, youll note that I have agreed with you on the bottom end being the weak point of the car (Especially when not looked after) but where you aware that all jap models are mapped from the factory for 100-102 octane petrol thats not available here? If the jap cars aren't re-mapped for 99 or 95 they run lean which is what causes a lot of failures. Most P1's have had a new engine under warranty due to this, as the P1 had the Jap-spec STI ver 6 engine fitted (IIRC) and Subaru UK never envisaged the problem. So if any of the cars you've broken/repaired are Jap wrx/sti's, that may be part of the problem anyway!
I can only speak from experience, and say that my Subaru hasn't missed a beat, and the only people that I am aware of with unreliable cars are the ones with silly boost or not looked after. A bit like every other car in the world TBH!
The EJ25 conversion is quite easy if you have a complete car as a donor according to my guy at Subaru, but we'll see:thumb: Probably not as easy as XE conversion on a nova, but there's no welding/cutting required.

Yeh i'm aware of the RON petrol that theyre programmed to use, i'm sure they have knock sensors which retard the timing so that shouldnt be too much of a problem if the case, i've messed around with a fair few impezas and i've actually got one for sale at the moment which is a Y reg UK turbo and has a knocking bottom end, £1800 if anyones interested? i'm not trying to diss your car or anything, i do like them and yours looks very tidy ! i havn't done the EJ25 conversion myself but have heard it to be a bit of a pain but achievable never the less, oh be careful with your gearbox too lol.

Something which I was made aware from at an early stage of my ownership of my P1. Was still on the original engine, but for peace of mind ran it religously on Optimax/V-Power and kept a bottle of octane booster in the glove box incase I was caught short, had the car re-mapped by Andy Forrest with overfueling to cylinder 3 as it's the last on the fuel rail. Warmed up and cooled down always, the car was used hard when it came out. Never had any problems with it.
The majority of horror stories come from new owners not knowing how to treat the car, they end up learning the hard way.
Nice example you have there and good luck with the sale.
Got any pics of your new one?
