could there be side affects to oil not being changed enough :eg running lumpy when warm?

could be, as it would effect the tappets, have you cahnged the spark plugs? as they could be bracking down if they are old

FFS dopie oils marketing speil gets everywhere lol

They dont know stuff about oil unless its been sent to them by the oil companies that they stock products for... They NEVER gave me a straight answer about why not to use a thicker oil etc etc and obviously recomended an oil they sold but with no real backing as to why.

Personally if you are running a std engine (even air filter and exhaust is std in my book) then simple 10W40 as said. Maybe splash the cash and get fully synth Carplan (carlube) oil as its marginally more than normal oil but still a stack cheaper than the dopieoils stuff... plus its recomended by lotus which is nice.

I used el-cheapo 10w-40 semi from the local mo-fo's last time i did the nova and the vectra, ?8.50 for 4.5ltrs. The nova was over a year ago and it's still golden, only did about 4k miles though. Vectra's still clean aswell after 3k since september.
