Well I was out just having a drive last night, on my way home down a two lane carriageway which I go down quite often, overtook a car as he was just poodling along, and past a set of roadcones theres was a sign for the road narrowing ahead so I pulled in the left lane at 50-60mph and there was a set of cones in the middle as they were doing some re-surfacing and then without warning the road just turned to crap.

As in extremely bumper with pot holes and massive dips in the road, so ive gone steaming into it without a clue something smacked on the floor, the car stalled skidded almost sideways at one point and stopped a few feet from the curb! I honestly shat my pants, surprinsingly the car restarted fine and once I found some light (it was pitch black) I pulled over for further inspection to find nothing broken!

Surprised really as I heard a massive clonk as I pulled away after I wiped out. But I went out today and all I can see are a couple of dents in the sump. May need a new one as theres a small leak coming from the drain plug but tbh it could have been alot worse!

Basically the point of this is, no matter how well you know a road theres always something to catch you out.

The suspension is partly to blame as its too low and too soft at the front, but i'll be getting my billies on shortly which will raise back up to just a 35mm drop, still keeping it 60mm at the back though.

Wasn't there a sign hinting that they were re-surfacing the road? ie 'ramp'

Nope, nothing, there was a keep left, and keep right arrow in the middle of the road as there was a row of cones there but nothing to indicate the road was fooked!

i know of a similar situation where a mate of mine had his tyre burst on something similar, complained to council and they paid for new tyre, get the council to buy you a new sump lol unless there was a sign that says 'ramp' or similar, then they wont do feck all

Might be an idea, but then again I went back up there today and apparently that stretch of the road is a 40 limit not the 60 that I was doing!
