bootlid solanoid

i have recently smoothed my tailgate and it loos wiked!! but i am having a little trouble getting the right solanoid and fitting it!! can anyone show methier solanoid arrangment and where they bought thiers from, i got one from maplins but it was a push/pull one and we realy need a pull/push, also it looked too small to pop the boot, i also tried a cav SRI central locking motor but could not work this correctly either,(think its fuked anyway) please advise me as i need it done ASAP to show off my badass install!!!

go to the scrappies and look for a mk5 escort or a mk3 fiesta ghia, these models have soleniods fitted as standard and you can see how it works before you take it out. there are other cars with soleniods fitted so have a look around.

i used a normal central locking motor. Cos i had removed the rear wiper/motor i used the wires that were in place for that. I used the purple/black from the wiper motor, and then just earthed it to the boot. Then, when i switch the rear wiper on, it opens the boot. The reason i use the purple/black is that this wire is supplied with intermittent pulses of electricity so it pulls the motor just long enough to open the boot. Then the spring in the locking mechanism returs the motor to the original posistino after the power is turned off. If you want pics, let me know
