code85. i cant find out what it means. ive checked it 3 times. and i am the one that is sure its 85.
also what resistance is the air temp sensor supposed to be at approx 4-8 deg? its measuring 4.98v open circuit so its getting power.
also what is meant by 'quad driver module' ?

Quad drive module is inside the ecu, its what controls the idle valve, egr etc etc.
That code is usually down to a bad earth on the engine loom(on the lower inlet/throttle body)

Code 85 is Wrong Immobiliser Signal(problem with the immobiliser transponder/signal pickup)

hmm if this is the case, why does the car start normal?
could the quad drive fault be due to fault on idlevalve or connected device to the quad driver? the car does idle badly as if the idle valve is sad. i have a lambda sensor fault code too but this could also be due to and earth fault. it is reading a voltage .2v and is changing as revs increase. so iam puzzled.

Ive had that fault code before(quad drive) and its started normally....
But i noticed id left one earth connection off the throttle body.
Fitted that and the code cleared.

i will check continuity of the earths.

i meant that the car still starts with the imobiliser code fault. i would have thought that this would have caused bad/poor non starting.

Without an immobiliser signal the car wont start.
The ecu light will just flash.

You sure you read the code right?

yes Adam i have checked the code many times, they flash up 3 times each and i deffinately got it. perhaps it is an old code. i will empty the memory over night by removing the battery.

Maybe yeah
