hi all, just wondered if i could get a bit of advice really, i have a nova gsi xe that im currently working on, mike off here is helping me, he noticed last sunday after re-installing the digi-dash and putting the ignition on that the fuel pump is constantly running, is this correct or should it buzz for a bit then go off, i bought the car with the lump in and the wiring that was done has been a mision to sort out, just ask mike :D 5 hours to sort the dash out, top bloke tho:thumb:
cheers guys:thumb:
if you only put the ignitition on. the fuel pump my only run for a few seconds. Almost sounds like if the fuelpomp relais is by-pasted.

the fuel pump just keeps running when the ignition is on even when the engines running, should this be right?
Yeah, as Jay said, the wiring is a misson alone lol
When you flick the ignition lights on, the pump primes the fuel system, but then continues to run even though the engine is not running? IMO its hard wired into the ignition live bypassing the relay
Nope! it' not right
The ecu only permits the fuelpomp to run a couple of seconds, to build up pressure when the ignition turned on and the engine NOT running. When the engine is running, so should the fuelpump.
In case of an accident, your problem will be very dangerous! because your pomp will berunning even when your ecu want's it to stop.
Get a proper diagram and check the voltage on the conectors of your fuelpump relais.
get rid of the current fuel pump wires. and wire up the fuel pump relay off the xe loom. theres only one wire coming from the xe loom to the fuel pump. just wire that in and itll be fine.
