i purchased the white xe that was for sale a couple of days back, and i'm a happy lad!! :D
i know the clutch cable went on the way home... but thats sorted.
then my bro took it for a spin round the block, and the car died  lucky stu was at hand to save the day, and we (he) found the fault was at the ecu feed to the coil... so stripped back the cables and re soldered all the wires, jobs a goody!
then, while he was on fire, he rewired the digi dash and tranducer so i know have a working speedo :thumb: and i rewired the tacho, so thats sound as well!

then cable tied the various switch and that to locations in and around the dial area :p

so... now everything was a-ok, i took it to the rollers :thumb: i used to work next door to red dot racing, and they let me use their road for free, get in!

anyway, i was told it was runnign 176hp at the flywheel, but its a 15year old engine, i would settle for 150hp as it then hasn't lost anything.
first run, it made 159hp, but it was really rich at top end!
so, adjusted the fuel pressure regulator and ran it again. this time it made 165.6hp, but it was ever so slightly lean around 4k.
so, tweaked it back a little, and ended up with 164.4hp @ 5500 and 134.7lbft @ 4800

a couple of things still to so...

-central locking
-windows
-lower seats
-front struts
-anti roll bar
-rear strut brace
-cage

i can't wait! all i need now is a job to run it and track it!

cheers
chris

central locking and electric windows wiring up today...

i know leccy windows aren't ideal ona track slag... but they're there, and they'll do for now. no point ripping them out to fit manul winders, and then i fit pollycarb windows later.

well on my gte, the suspension was so hard that it did, so i removed it, but the suspension fitted is astra gte stuts with spax springs, so i'm hoping it'll help...

Just noticed this thread.. cheers for the mention Chris... Top result on the rollers, but I must say as much as it was fun going to my 1st live rolling road session, nothing beats the 1st time out in a nova valver (even though I don't fit the seats!)

Get today's WIP pics up for the world to see :D:D:D

Pleasure working with you bro, roll on Batchwood for the celebratory drink to toast the valver! :D

You're more than welcome Stu! I'd have been lost with the wiring without your know-how. Top bloke, and to think I've only known you a few days lol Been to see 2 cars, and all the work on the valver, all day mon till midnight and all day tuesday :thumb: Ze crazeeee

As Stu said, thought I'd get some pics. We started the other day rewiring the ecu feed tot he coil as the car died... And we stubbled across it by accident. A quick bit of soldering and the car was running. Then while we were on a role, Stu rewired the transducer feed for the speedo, so i now know what speed I'm doing... (Prob not for the best) lol Then Stu wired in a cat2 immobiliser, while I removed the passenger door and wired in the central locking and electric windows. Then once that was all done, we removed the drivers door and fitted the central lockign and electric loom.

Strut brace fitted:

Rear interior: (need to fit another eye bolt)

Stu doign his thing:

And again:

Everything now works perfectly, so the list shortens :) need another electric window switch, i'll get a pick up see if anyone has one. Going to try and swap my suspension from my written off GTE this weekend, and see what it's like then.

Pleasure working with you bro, roll on Batchwood for the celebratory drink to toast the valver! :D

I think you deserve it mate!! We'll plan a big one for next week when you're not working :thumb:
Cheers Stu
