Saab motors tend to run low boost.

hence why they do 200 k miles between rebuilds.
they can be tuned well. good levels of tunage inface. check out the saab forums.

Sorry mate, but that aint going to happen... The saab lump is nothing like anything vauxhall have produced so no vauxhall box will mount to it, and mounts will have to be custom made jobbies.

i think i read a PPC magazie that was in the toilets which stated something about a Saab engine and Vauxhall box. maybe i am thinking about another car/box though :(

oh ive been told the mounts are the same as let engines, is it more hassle than its worth then do you reckon?

if you think you can do it then its probably not too much hassle. however if you think you cant do it then its hassle level increases.

i was just thinking of saving money as i can get this saab turbo for about ?100, but if things need to be custom made etc, would it be worth spending a good ?1000 - ?1500 for a let engine?

it depends whether you want to save yourself hassle or save money.
if i had an engine for that money i would do it all myself. but you are not me and i am not you.

My brothers one of the saabs and its not bad for little monies, ive had a gander round and TBH its not going to be a straight fit, the block is nothing like a vauxhall one but cant see what the mounts are like.

Think theirs was 170-180bhp which is crap from a 2lt turbo, however they have got it boosting to 15psi now. Any more an its cuts the fueling.

One reason the engines are cheap is the coil packs go on them like every few thousand miles and cost 180 new lol.

You think your getting a bargin but there is always a reason why things are cheap.

if you were serious about tunings this engine, you would installate a programming ECU and fit coil packs of something else. this would also get over the problem with fuel cut with out using a FCD.

depends which saab engine you get.... The 9-3 1.8/2.0 turbo engines are based on the Z22SE and use the GM F23 gearbox. But good luck getting one of those engines cheap lol

yes thats true but the only reason you want to use this engine is if your gypo an want to do a cheap conversion which rules out after market management.

was just going to say that burgo. the saab v6 is essentially a GM v6 but i dont think there are many similarities between the turbo lumps

right, any saab turbo lump built after 1994 fits an f20. the wiring is like wiring an ecotec i.e transponder etc. a lad up here is puttin a 2.0 high pressure in a corsa on an f20, and saabflight did the ecu and a few other bits when it was in a 900, he had 257 bhp on the rollers. yes the belt end mount is a one off but thats not that hard to do now is it? remember when xe's didnt have fitting kits? (god i feel old......)

^^ based on the Z22SE as fitted to 2000MY onwards Astras/Vectras etc.

I think someone has fitted an S/C 2.2 into a corsa.

i think i saw that at last pv stuart. cant remember if it was a corsa or not but i remember seeing something supercharged using the lsj head

the orientation of the ports looks different on that head. is that indeed the case?

the orientation of the ports looks different on that head. is that indeed the case?yes the lsj heads are back to front. so the inlet is at the front of the engine in other words
