View Full Version : GM Anthracite Paint Code
Right... i've mentioned this a couple of times... so thought i'd see if anyone can actually get hold of the Code !
Basically, lots of people want to replicate the GM Anthracite paint colour for painting bumpers/skirts back to a Grey finish.
Untill now, most people suggest Rover Hurricane Grey... which is actually noticeably different.
Basically, there is a Paint code for the standard GM Factory plastic finish.

The GM Plastic GSi bumpers come with painted tow-eye covers (i presume the type of plastic used is different to the rest of the bumper).... whereas the rest of the bumper is a grey plastic.
So, can anyone tell me the paint code for this ? I need to re-spray mine from rover hurricane grey back to the correct shade to match the bumpers, i also would like the paint my skirts and prehaps the door handles, mirrors !
Very hard to notice in the picture, but this is hurricane Grey in comparison to the GM plastic.

Might not look like much, but in real life there is a definite difference.

I can see that a mile off lol...
I see what you mean and it does need to be sorted.
Yer, well im not sure of how many people are actually aware that there is a GM colour code for the original plastic finishes.
Helps me, and will also help people when they want to spray things grey for a standard finish.
I guess i could ask vauxhall, but theres no dealership near me :)

Rover Hurricane Grey looks crap IMO when used on bumpers where the pukka stuff is required.
I dont know of a paint code but there is a paint sold by UPOL for use as a GM bumper paint. It looks like the real thing, a textured dark greay.
I've seen it on ebay.

Thanks, but there must be a proper vauxhall colour ? Seeing as they sprayed all the tow eye covers grey !

True. GTE/SR type bumpers are painted too as they are a Yellowish plastic underneath the paint. Be sure to post up your findings for future reference.
Yer, im surprised no-ones actually bothered to find out before..
Like you say, hurricane grey is Definetly very wrong !
Just asked Chris about this. He works for Vauxhall, so should be able to track someone down who will know.
If that dosen't work then your next best thing is to take the colour to a paint shop (where they mix the paint for you) and ask them to match it up. You will obviously have to take a sample with you, i.e. a bumper.
EDIT: Apparently the Vauxhall bodyshop boys use 'Ford Euro Light Grey'. It comes in this rattle can.

Oh cool... maybe vauxhall allways used a random paint and never used their own coded stuff !
Apparently they come black (or very dark grey) and just weather to the colour we are trying to find.
I still think the best and surest way to find this colour is to take it to a paint shop.

the boys in the body shop said there is no pain code as the gte/gsi bumpers are sent through to be painted body colour and all the standard bumber's are sent through ready to fit but if they do a repair they use Ford Euro Grey paint they do a light, medium and dark and they match it as best they can
Fair enough... thanks for the infomation :)

Oh right... sorry didn't see that .
Great, i'l get some of that and see if it's correct !
Nick, if you take a look in Nathans WIP thread, hes used a dark grey colour, that looks a VERY close match for the original colour.
I'l have a look. but if that 82L steel grey is correct.. then i may as well use that !

In which case the UPOL stuff I linked from ebay would be my choice, esp seing as its stated to be the shade GM use on bumpers etc.
