hi all,

i really don;t have the money... but i saw mike and dan's valver for sale, so went and had a look and loved it so i purchased it :) now i need to sell as much as poss and my 2litre 8valve 130 nova

anyway, drove it back not a problem... then as i pull off the motorway... the clutch cable snapped!

whats it like to do on a valver? whats the easiest way? if there is one lol

cheers all! i want to get back in it and let it put a smile on ym face!

can be an **** hole if you havent done one before as the inlet manifold is right up against the bulk head. Just use a normal nova one as a replacement.

Indeed phil, i had to bloody remove the inlet on mine to replace the clutch cable!

lol shouldnt laugh but thats really harsh having to remove the inlet manifold. Depends if you have massive hands as well I suppose. Always managed to do without removing anything but you do lose a lot of skin of your hands in doing so.

5 mins if all goes to plan

Yeah i really wasn't amused at the time! (see my wip thread) Phil, you've seen the size of me, my hands are in proportion to the rest of my bodylol

At a guess, a snapped clutch cable could indicate the hole in the bulkhead wasnt modified during the conversion. if you dont bend the tube, the cable has to make a tight turn which weakens them somewhat. Or it could just be an old cable.

Make sure the hole points towards the front passenger side of the engine bay, towards the floor. With the engine in, it'll be a tool of a job to do if its not been done.

i'm guessing it hasn't been done, can it be done from inside the footwell? i really want to get driving it :( i'll get some pics up tomorrow. going to fit my half cage and strut braces, and anti roll bar.

Take the engine out lol

I never did it on my first valver conversion and it cannot be got at from inside. Usually shove a jack handle in it and use that the bend it.

Possibly my least fave job to perform on a Nova. Fooking about under the dash sorting the pedal end is the bain of my life.

Can anyone post a pic of the pedal end showing the pedal return spring & cable in situ?

Pretty sure something isn't right with mine... very high pedal.

If you have a high pedal craig just take it out on the end of the cable gearbox end.

I have but the pedal is sprung upwards, the pedal spring should hold the pedal down onto the floor if the cable is missing. Min goes the other way.... :(
