similar 1.2 & 1.3 SR parts

Could i use my valves & springs from a 1991 1.2 carb engine in a 1.3 sr engine? Also what power would i get from a 1.3 SR engine? Is it worth changing a 1.2 for a 1.3 SR or should i go for something bigger? thanks

If you're bothering to do an engine conversion, you may aswell go the whole hog and fit either a 1.6 or a 2l, depending on how much work you're prepare to do.

The 1.2 and 1.3 heads are almost identical, you may aswell fit the 1.2 head if you need the valves from it, but be aware that compression will be slightly higher.

yea was just going to rebuild it for now & then put it in when i have a years no claims.

remember this, a 1300sr engine is just a standard 1300 engine, they stuck a lower geared diff in & fitted a bodykit & posh interior. its more style than substance.

If you're going to the effort of a rebuilt, start with a 1400 bottom end, 1300 head, 1400 or aftermarket cam, weber 32/42 carb and so on and so forth. It'll make that effort all the more worth it :).
