View Full Version : n/s tie rod hitting gearbox

the tie rod is hitting the box casing when going over bumps has any body else had/ got this problem with fitted with a c20xe and f20 box and what have you done to solve problem??

Have you ground off the lug on the box?

i had the same problem, even will the lug cut off..

i was just lazy and did **** all about it :lol:

yes i have ground the lug off flush with th casin and there is only 2cm space and that is with the car on axle stands

lower the front tie bar brackets by about 25mm (a few of the rally places supply kits to do it)

^ or even on eBay, your after Tie Bar Lowering kit/plate things...

you should only need those if your running an F28, if you need them for a F20 I would have a closer look at how much of angle the engine is sitting at.

i thought that too..

i had the same problem with f20, Lee H also did..

i'm curious what's causing it to be like that :confused:

over the years ive seen pretty much all the different mounts made ect... and the ones that normally always cause this problem are the ones that are still on standard rubbers. All the uprated stiffened ones have never seem to caused any problems, be them ours or anyone elses. More than likely the rubbers have split an sagged. One of the reason I hate using the rubbers as they can barely hold a 1lt in place without snapping.

The other one is some of the front engine mount brackets are wrong and make the cambelt side sit down far far to low an its easy to see when you look at it.

think the mount may of been the problem on mine, cheapo ebay special :lol:

also combined with standard rubber mount's dont help
