shake rattle roll

HI there!ive been insured on my girlfirends mums Nova (1.4 5dr j reg) to change doors etc cos of rust but she told me bout a noise she was concerned about. :?

when she changes from 2 - 3 and in 3rd gear there is a rattling noise. is this just something that is loose and vibrating at this frequency or something to do with the gear box and major cost etc??? :cry:

any answers would be cool!! cheers! :D :D :D

Mine did something similar, it was a plate where the gear linkage is, it was like someone had dropped some change in the box iand it was rattling. I stuck a cable tie round it which has cured it for the minute ( a new one from vauxhall is about ?100 !!!!!!!!)
