Hi - I have got a K plate GSi that doesn't have a Cat. It's manufacture date is October '92 and I thought it should have one. However its gone through 2 M.O.T's since I've had it with no probs even tho I thought it would fail & I've not long fitted a Mongoose stainless system to it. Can anyone tell me when they started putting cats on Nova's coz I'm sure I've heard of J plate SRi's etc with them on???? Cheerz

My 92 J 1.2i has a catalytic converter fitted, i want to remove it
as it starts to smell when i floor it! I've been quoted ?60 for it to
be removed and be replaced by a removable one which i can leave off of my car,
the garage told me it would have to be on for the MOT though.
Does anybody think its worth removing for the power gain?
Cheers,Tony.

they cars that came wiv cats were setup for cats so taking one of wont relase much bhp without remapping the engine.

i think vuaxhall were just jumping the gun a bit with putting the cats on. maybe to promote themselves as a green company?

They make a bit enough difference to make the effert to remove it. Vauxhall added fuel injection to the nova so that the cat wouldn't slow them down. The cat also mutes the exhaust note so if u buy a new back box it won't sound as good with the cat on
