View Full Version : Fitting mk2 bumpers on mk1 help please

Can anyone help me with this i have had a look and it looks like on the rear it slids on at the sides on a mk1 and on mk2 its screwed on at the sides.

dont do it, its looks ****, unless you give the front end the facelift aswell!

Slide on both Mk1 and Mk2 via brackets either side (bolted to shell) and rubber blocks top and bottom of these brackets. Then there are the bumper carriage bars which secure the bumpers centrally. Access to these is inside the boot and under both front wheel arches.

Personally, I wouldn't bother as Mk2 bumpers on a Mk1 doesn't look right.

Thats not what he asked.

You will have to drill extra holes for the sides of the rear bumper.

IIRC mk1 uses a clip fixed to the car that the bumper slides onto. Remove that & use the 2 screws into the blocks (each side) when fitting mk2 item.

craig that what i asked i'm fitting rear only as i got a mk2 exhaust system that looks sh*t with mk1 back bumper i'm happy with mk1 front end so need help fitting rear bumper at the sides please.

thanks craig for your help so i do need to drill holes that wat i thought any idea how i get the holes lined up.
