started of as a completely bog standard gsi bar an internal rebuild so far cosmetically on the outside all i have done is lower it 60mm although it doesnt particularlylook low on these pictures, its not quiete as low as it should be on the back due to the interior being stripped so im getting 100mm or 80mm springs for the back and some 16 comp MOs in anthracite grey depends how it looks with 16's on the back not had it running on the carbs yet though but it was already rapid for a standard gsi after the internals have been redone, methinks its had some lightening and balancing done etc because it wipes the floor with my mates gte and that before the carbs so hopefully ill see an improvement

looks good to me mr any other plans for it?

blackpoolbouncer
07-02-08, 04:54 PM
plans are as follows
16" COMP MO'S
spax adjustable shock and custom wound springs
custom made exhaust
roll cage
rs2000 or standard gsi skirts however im missing one of the skirt pieces(the back triangular piece)
maybe smooth of my bumpers if i can be ****d
colour code all the outside bits, mirrors etc
light tints on the windows
vaux gm opel dealer sport mudflaps
engine wise im not entirely sure what to do,ive got three plans if you will and i cant decide what to do,turbo my 1.6,keep on modifying it on the bike carbs or get an LET. i wouldnt give up my 1.6 for a normal 2 litre it would have to have a turbo, hmm got lots of stuff planned but its just doing things slowly,i do everything myself and so far the modifications to the engine have only cost me less than 100 quid cosidering it was a mucky bog standard jobbie, will get some before and after piccys when i can.
its handy because as you can see i have a full workshop and have been running a small modifying business for the last 5 years although its got sidelined lately completely so now ive got all the time in the world to work on my car especially with it being off the road for a couple of months
and nick im just in pilling, you should pop down one day mate, its a great road down to my house from lancaster, one of my favourites

definitely help having all the tools on hand and also stuff like lathe, beadblaster etc etc
its unbelievable how handy a ramp actually is,since we got the two post ramp i only think ive used the pit once, its nice to be able to work on cars in there and still have lots of space aorund you even with all the c**p in there like mowers etc.better than doing it on your driveway definitely :thumb:

Ahh pilling, i know it pretty well ! i'm just at Carnforth so the otherside of lancaster really.

Are you interested in doing any track-days ? me and a few of my friends try to do a few every year. We're all in the local area, unfortunatly they've all got big power JAP stuff so another nova would be great :)

cant say ive seen it to be honest but we did have a rsa trubo with a HUGE FMIC drive past my club a few times last night down the prom, obviously "kroozin for huneez"
thats one thing i hate about blackpool is the fact its a tourist town and most of the nice cars you see, particularly novas arent from round here becausethere just up on weekends for stag partys or whatever:(

sory was aimed at nick, didnt see you were from st helens :thumb: dont worry about keeping up i will be going in mine and itl probs still just be a gsi with r1 carbs and a few other bits and bobs,i aint gonna be screaming down the motorway :thumb: the only reason i was thinking LET is that i dont like the fact my mates nova(2.5 V6 one) will be faster than mine
im half tempted to fight the corner for the small blocks

twistysnovagte
10-02-08, 08:25 PM
would love to have the c20LET in mine, if a bit of money comes my way then im pretty dam sure it will happen:D

blackpoolbouncer
10-02-08, 08:31 PM
yea same here,im doign this with the small block because i want o be a bit different, there arent many quick GSi's about anymore, there all big blocks. i keep up wiht my mates 2.0 xe till about 60/70 then he leaves me for dead so ive come to the conlcusion
i wont change my engine for a standard 2.0XE but i would for either a well tuned one or an let for the right money,if you will i need that extra bit of convincing to get me to do it,in other words it has to be over 200bhp or i wont do it

twistysnovagte
10-02-08, 08:36 PM
if you can find 1 in a reasonable condition(let that is)and you have the money to do the work then yeah go for it m8;) if i had the money engine etc the work would already be underway:thumb:

It'd be interesting to see what the difference between the bike carbs and some regular 40's are !

TBH, Mines running a pretty good spec. AST2 Camshaft, DHLA 40's, Headwork, Lightened/balanced bottom end, GRP A style Ashely exhaust e.t.c but it's only making about 140hp max...

i dont know what mines ahd done internally engine wise, all i know is that it was rebuilt about 6 or 7k ago, however what i do know is that it is considerably quicker than a freinds GTE of which hes spent plenty on which he wasnt happy about, thats before the bike carbs though, well see what a difference the carbs make but i need to get a new manifold as the one ive made isnt as good as a nice ballanced and matched ally one would be so im interested to see the gains from manifold to manifold,if your down in pilling quite a bit you should pop in sometime for a brew,im always in during the day due to not having a day job.would be nice to see another GSi on carbs in the flesh and see what yours goes like :thumb:
