banded steels?

do people still band the wheels?

ie cho[p a steel wheel and weld in a metal band to make the rim wider?

are they legal in the uk?

Not strictly legal. But neither are race cans on motorbikes or straight through exhausts, tints & Blue neons etc.

Banded steels are perfectly legal, if done to a safe standard. As confirmed by DfT here (http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=424027&page=2) (I make no comment on the grammar/spelling of volkszone members!).

Tints are legal too btw, depending on where and how dark :p
