also the guy at Ek brakes says theres two different models, a lucas one and a bosch one, if anyone could tell me what i want to be asking for exactly because they seem to be somewhat useless in identifying what i want due to him just having numbers on a screen.
i need the ignition for my gsi that is now running bike carbs and from what i understand the ignition needs to be from a 1.4sr?

I think the 1.4 unit is the bosch one, as I know the 1.2 and 1.3 ones are lucas.

thats the coil i dont want,is that lucas or bosch?
A brand new coil will set you back at least ?70 from GM, however, if you can find any 2.0 8v EFi Cav/Calibra use that coil. Dizzy's are still avaliable from motor factors, in the region of ?60 though.
EDIT: On an SR, the coil should be a cylindrical shape, not the Sqaure shape ones, can also use a Carlton 3.0 coil ;)

its the sr coil and dizzy i want to know either the part number or what make it is etc who makes it etc ,or more to the point i just want the dizzy, ive got an msd blaster 2 coil waiting to be used with it
The dizzy could be either Lucas or Bosch!! YOU need to check on the label on the back of it!!! There is no part number for it, as its not a GM made part!! Its made FOR GM, not by them.
BTW, aftermarket "high power" coils do next to nothing on small engines unless your running on the likes of methanol or pure alcohol etc etc

the aftermarket coil is something i already have so why bother buying a lucas one or one from a motorfactors when i already have a high quality coil?
the thing is i havent got the dizzy to check which is why im asking on here,i have converrted my gsi onto carbs and need a sef sufficient ignition setup and i dont want to go the Mega Jolt route
all i want to know is what i need to be saying to EK brakes so they know what dizzy i want, the reason why i was asking who makes the above dquare coil is im trying to use the process of elimination
Well ask them for what ever dizzy they can get there hands on for an SR then. They should list 2 Lucas items and 1 Bosch item.

they listed a bosch one and a lucas one but they didnt know which ne it was and because of them having to order them from XL who makes delco remy stuff i wouldnt be able to send it back if its not right, are both the lucas and bosch ones the same because it is just listed as 1400 vauxhall nova ignition system not distinguishing between a 1.4sr and a 1.4 sri
The SRi item will cost a sh1tload more compared to the SR one :thumb: as the SRi is "Dispack" so no rotor arm/diz cap etc etc
