Hi guys,

Just picked up my track toy a caged XE nova and have now found out that when I am hard cornering it dies so I think this is die to it not having a swirl pot and an non injection tank, is this right?

If so whats the best and cheapest way to fix this as it has a nicely fitted internal fuel pump which would be a shame to not use anymore but then if the injection tank option is cheapest and will stop it happening thats the one for me i think??

Also need a front strut brace if anyone is selling one?!

Thank guys

Alex

You can still use the internal pup. You will need a swirl pot and a lift pump to feed the swirl pot. The lift pump draws fuel from the tank to fill the swirl pot, your pump the draws fuel from the swirl pot to feed the fuel rail.

Internal pump tanks have a swirl pot built in.

You must have a carb tank fitted, thats why its dieing.
Fit an injection tank.

Aye, sounds like youve got a carb tank fitted mate.

Ok so best to just forget the pump thats there or are you saying replace the tank with an injection tank and still run it through my internal fuel pump that has been fitted for rally reasons?

Injection tanks don't have a swirl pot from what I have seen but a baffle.
This is the way I solved the same problem.

Get a swirlpot http://www.alloyracingfabrications.com/product.php?id=37 is a good and very cheap one.

You are already running a pump from the tank so leave it alone. Get an injection pump and a fuel filter and plumb it in.

http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Info_sheets/Fuel_injection%20_Set_up_instructions/2.0L%20Taper%20instuctions%20Print%20All/20l_swirl_pot.gif

You will notice that the setup above is using a low pressure pump and I think the reason is that there is no need for a high pressure pump here, but if thats what you already have then I can't see a reason to switch it out.

Your next decision is where to mount the swirlpot. Once done though it will solve your fuel starvation problem. I had to run my car with almost a full tank to get a full session without fuel starvation. Now I run a swirlpot I have run it from under half a tank with no problems at all.

All the nova efi tanks have a metal/plastic pot/container in the tank which the return pipe drains into, and the pump pumps from.

yes to be fairness it isnt a 'swirl pot' as mr Dar explains, it is more like a cup or baffle to prevent the pick-up drawing some air.
but it does sound like this is the problem Mr Alex. try filling the tank up more (not desireable for a track-slag) but would help find the faults.
