Main dash lights behind the dials, yes. I think there's two or three in a poverty spec dial set.

the lamps are the same fittingment but if i have correct rememberance, the wattages are different

will they still work. will i have problems?

yes they will work but if the wattages are higher the heat may be too intense and melt the plastic and burn the tracks.

but i doubt it will cause that much saddness

From memory they are 501's, but only something like 1.2w, wheras normal sidelight bulbs are 5w. I had 5w versions in my dash with no heat related problems.
