side repeaters...

right - I obtained some GM mk2 wings for my nova project the other week but have just realised they dont have any side repeater holes...

Now I dont really want to have to cut them to fit the side repeaters but my car is fitted with side repeater wires etc...

Do I have to for MOT purposes...

I may do it but at the moment I dont want to if I can help it...

if youve got a mk1 front endd then yes you need side repeters

if youve got a mk2 front end then no you dont as the indicators curve round abit

but youve got a punto lol, so id presume so

subtle 1`s fitted in mirrors would be a nice touch
keep the wings clean looking ....

mmm - thought about mirror mounted ones but I want to devise a method of removing my mirrors when I'm parked up - fed up of knobbers knocking them off!

Stand at the side of the car, parallel to the rear bumper, 1 metre away. If you can see the front side indicator light up you won't need side repeaters (not just reflection of the light).

I'd guess you will need side repeaters, as the punto lights project forward don't they?

I've got a set of 6 (3 for each side) LEDs to replace the side repeaters if your interested Ade. They come with full wiring etc and are roughly 6mm in diameter. I was gonna mount them in my mirrors, they aren't flush fit but protrude about 5mm.

You will need some mate, just checked my dad's punto and there's no way you can see the indicator in the headlight from the posistion required, in fact I have trouble seeing the fronts on a punto at night, there not in a great place as they are.

I'm sure that with a bit of measuring you'll easily get the holes in the right place.

Triangulate the measurments off various points on the wing, you should beable to get it spot on !

I would just run the wires up to a gap in the wing and wire some repeaters in for the mot

Could always fit something a bit more modern to compliment the kit and then you can decide where you want them.

looked in the book at work about this a few weeks back , i think all cars after a sertan date have to have them .
i have a f plate nova which i used to have tape them to the wing at the mot lol

Have you still got the rest of the punto wings? the little flying saucer repeaters wouldn't look bad?
