Hoping to be doing an engine conversion this weekend but have been unable to source two parts:

1.6 injection fuel tank.
Is it possible to run the car with the original tank? Only a short term solution until a GTE tank appears.

1.2 exhaust.
Same again. Can this be fitted to the 1.6 downpipe?

Many thanks - Dougie

the carb tank has no pump and swirl pot. you will need an external fuel pump and filter and also fuel lines.

and the exhaust wont fit.the downpipe is longer. you could use the 1.2 manifold but the ports are a different shape and wont line up properly. stud pattern is the same.

Hmmm, think we may be better off waiting for the right parts in that case.

I've got a GTE tank and pump if your not desperate as they're still on the car.
Located in Oxford.

1.2 and 1.6 EXHAUST ports are identical. As are all OHC 8v heads.

You can use the carb tank with an external pump, but due to a lack of swirl pot, you'll need to keep the tank filled(1/4-1/2 minimum)

If you want it up and running quickly, then keep the carb tank, and the 1.2 exhaust manifold/dowpipe/system. To fit 1.6 items you will need a gte/gsi system to match.

I've also got a full stainless 1.6 mongoose system that's up for sale.

Well, the 1.2 is out, along with the fuel tank and suspension.

Tomorrow should see the 1.6, injection tank and fuel lines all fitted.

No doubt I'll be back in a bit to ask what wires I have to connect he he.

The engine is in, which is good.

Bad thing is, the engine came with no leads. Can someone please tell me what order the plug leads go on? It turned over fine for a second, followed by two massive bangs and flames from the downpipe. Suspect it's not right. Hehehe.
